Survey on Use of Organic Synthesis and Available Chemicals Databases
The Chemical Database Service traditionally provided
access to databases to assist users with a specific interest in
organic synthesis.
Databases subject areas included general & specialist reactions,
spectroscopy, chiral separation and available chemicals.
We believe that the available chemicals components in particular also
had interest for a much wider community.
Following from a Review by the EPSRC in 2006 our funding was cut.
As a consequence of this access to most of the components above ceased
at the end of May 2007. One of the aims of this survey is to determine
the impact this has had on the UK academic community.
In our Survey we are initially targeting registered CDS users who have
made use of the components in question, but others (including
currently non registered users) are welcome to respond. Please discuss
these matters with your colleagues.
Please note that the closing date for completing the
Survey was 25/2/08. No further entries will now be accepted, but you
can still view the Survey questions via the lower button.

Non Registered
If you are not currently a registered user or have forgotten your password

Contact us at the address at the foot of the page if wish to
contribute but have difficulties accessing the "live" version of the
questionnaire.
The results of this Survey will help us to decide how to procede
further. In particular is it worthwhile investigating alternative
funding models to try to restore some of the facilities that have been
lost?
All answers will be treated in confidence.
Background material relating to the EPSRC decision to withdraw
support for the organic components can be viewed via this

was setup by the Service following the EPSRC decision.
