Problem

Can I set up Vista eXceed to connect to cds straight away - without having to enter the command "setenv DISPLAY IPaddress" as well as ID and password every time ?

Solution

Yes, there is a client wizard which sets things up easily, or you can create an Xstart session.
(you may also have to check some of the settings ( mainly in the Communications box - change to Passive).

If you are still having problems then a likely cause is that a FIREWALL is blocking the x-window coming back from CDS. You may have to talk to your local computer network people.
You may still be able to access the Service using a secure telnet session in conjunction with your x-windows server. See the Secure Shell
page - especially the bottom part of the page about SSH Forwarding.
